Town boss Joe Royle has revealed that he spent Wednesday evening watching a potential loan target. Royle has also praised Dean Bowditch and Pablo Couñago who were both in action last night.

The Town manager says last night's trip was part of his continued look for possible loanees: "It was part of the ongoing scouting procedure that we have at the club."

Royle had limited destinations yesterday with few games being played. Only three games were contested in the FA Premier Reserve League, Fulham v Watford, Town's 3-2 defeat to Leicester and Coventry v Crystal Palace, with a loan target at any lower level seeming unlikely and signings from abroad (including Scotland) unavailable until January.

As he missed both the reserve game against the Foxes and Dean Bowditch's starring performance for the England U19s, Royle says he had representatives keeping watch: "I have had reports from both our reserve game at Leicester City and the England U19 friendly at Carrow Road, Norwich.

"Pablo Couñago scored a good goal, worked hard and did well for the reserves, while Dean Bowditch was one of the better players for England and the experienced will have done him good."
