Town chief executive Derek Bowden says the club is delighted that REM have been confirmed as the first of three big acts to play Portman Road next summer.

Bowden says he expects the band to attract a capacity crowd: "We are delighted to announce the first in a limited number of concerts to be held here at Portman Road next summer. REM are a major stadium filler and I am sure will appeal to a broad range of fans across East Anglia.

"They are playing a small number of stadia across the country and tickets are sure to move fast. At £35, £40 and £45 we think they represent fantastic value for money and offer a real opportunity for fans to see them play live in front of a 28,000 audience."

Tickets to the Friday, July 8th concert can be obtained now from Ticketmaster.

The identities of the other two acts are yet to be confirmed although widespread rumours suggest that they are Bon Jovi and Neil Diamond.
