A young Town reserves side was thrashed 4-0 by a more experienced Charlton side at the Valley on Wednesday night. Midfielder Antonio Murray was the only Town player out of his teens while the Addicks fielded the likes of Francis Jeffers, Paul Konchesky and Jonatan Johansson.

It was Jeffers who did most of the damage, scoring in the 46th and 49th minutes, the home side having already gone ahead through Mark Ricketts just before half-time.

Finnish international Johansson, who had a trial with the Blues prior to his move to Scottish giants Rangers, netted the fourth on 65.

Striker Dean Bowditch was the pick of the Town players but Charlton were in control throughout.

Town remain bottom of the FA Premier Reserve League (South) with two points and are yet to win a game. Charlton are top of the league, their victory against the Blues their sixth on the trot.

Reserves: Supple, Hogg, Craig, Mitchell, Sobers, Collins, Flack, Murray, Atay (Hammond 70), Bowditch, Knights. Unused: Synnott, Guentchev, Casement, Beveridge, Lordan.
