Jordan Hits Out
Jordan Hits Out

Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has hit out at Town and Leeds for he sees as their attempts to sign Eagles' midfielder Shaun Derry on the cheap. The Blues tried to sign the 26-year-old on loan before Leeds failed in an abortive £250,000 permanent deal.

Jordan spat: "Shaun is not going on loan. Either somebody comes up with the right deal for him or he stays with us. Ipswich wanted him on loan and were pleading poverty, but if they are so poor, why didn't they accept the £3 million they were offered for Darren Bent?

"As for Leeds, the way they messed Shaun about was a farce.

"They tried to change the deal three or four times and took the mickey out of Shaun by initially offering him wages that are well below what he deserves.

"It was an insult to Shaun so I phoned him and told him to come back straight away. Then they wanted him on loan and I agreed, as long as they could guarantee they'd make it a permanent deal. They couldn't come up with that guarantee so the deal was off."

Jordan has also told winger Tommy Black that he has no future at the club.
