Reserves defender Chris Hogg has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Tony Mowbray's Hibernian. Reports earlier in the month indicated that Mowbray was interested in Hogg, in additiona to midfielder Antonio Murray who moved to Easter Road two weeks ago.

Hogg joined the Blues from York City in the summer of 2001 in a deal which could have reached £150,000 depending on appearances and the England youth international's progress at Portman Road.

However, Hogg has failed to make it near the first team in his time at Town and has seen the younger Gerard Nash and Aidan Collins push ahead of him in the pecking order. The 19-year-old's contract was up in the summer and he had been told he would not be offered another one.

Manager Joe Royle told the club site that Hogg has not made enough of an impression in his time with the Blues: "Chris Hogg is leaving us and we wish him well. He came to the club with a big reputation but has not been able to go that extra yard and get into the first team."

It had been thought Hogg's move to Scotland might not happen until the summer after he injured his hand warning off car thieves at home in Middlesbrough over Christmas. However, with the transfer window closing, his move to Scotland has been sealed so he can play for the SPL side this season once he has regained his fitness.

As well as Murray and manager Mowbray, Hogg will also be reunited with former Academy striker Sam Morrow and Mark Venus who is assistant manager at Easter Road.
