Peters on Bench
Peters on Bench

Winger Jaime Peters will be on the bench for Canada when they take on Northern Ireland in Belfast this evening, but will be involved in the game at some stage.

The full international friendly gives most Town supporters a first opportunity to see the club's latest acquisition in action. The 17-year-old officially joins the Blues in May when he turns 18, visa issues preventing him from formally signing before then.

The BBC aren't showing the match live on either of their Northern Ireland channels but there is a highlights programme on BBC1 Northern Ireland (Sky Digital channel 943) at 11.10pm.

Head coach Frank Yallop, who will be inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in April, has named his side and confirmed that he will give all his four outfield subs a run-out. Peters will win his sixth senior cap.

Town manager Joe Royle has asked to be sent a video of the game. The Blues are sending their Irish scout but Royle wants to assess Peters' performance for himself.

Canada: Sutton, Hutchinson, Simpson, Gervais, McKenna, Imhof, Bernier, Brennan, Serioux, De Rosario, Occean. Subs: Peters, Hume, Klukowski, Reda, Hirschfeld (GK).
