Johnno Wants to Fight for Place

With the Johnson to Manchester City story now being widely reported across the Internet it has been suggested to TWTD that the statement currently being quoted is completely contrary to others made by the striker. As recently as Saturday Johnson was interviewed in the Evening Star and made no suggestion that he wanted to leave Town. In fact he said he was determined to fight for his place. The player was said to be "charm itself" and it seems highly unlikely that he would have issued a 'come and get me plea' so shortly afterwards. Could it be that he was merely answering a question along the lines of: Would you be tempted by an offer from Manchester City if one came in?

If this is the case it would be especially ironic as Johnson has only recently begun to speak to the press again after a long self-imposed silence.

Meanwhile Town are once again being linked with former Town star Sergei Baltacha's son. Sergei Baltacha Jnr is a highly rated centre-half with St Mirren who rather surprisingly plays for Scotland's U21 side. Town were linked with him last season and he previously spent some time with the club during the latter days of our previous Premiership stint. Apparently the then early teenaged Sergei joined the players for an away trip and spent the entire journey playing chess with Bontcho Guentchev.
