Johnson Holland Baltacha Rumours Quashed
Johnson Holland Baltacha Rumours Quashed
Tuesday, 28th Nov 2000 11:51

Despite stories eminating from Manchester to the contrary Town are saying that David Johnson will not be leaving the club. Reports yesterday quoted Johnson saying he would be tempted by an offer for City. This may be true, however with Richard Naylor out for six weeks with his knee problem Town are certainly not going to sell a striker.

Town are also denying any truth in stories in the Scottish press linking Matt Holland with a move to Celtic. George Burley has also refuted any interest in Sergei Baltacha Jnr. Reports at the weekend suggested that Town might move for the St Mirren defender, the son of old boy Sergei Baltacha Snr.

George Burley says that he is actively looking for a club for out of favour defender Manu Thetis. The Frenchman did well in his first season with Town, but fell out of favour last season and has been told he isn't in George Burley's plans. The former Sevilla player, who's contract is up this year, spent an unsuccessful period on loan at Wolves earlier this season. He cost Town £50,000 when he joined at the beginning of the 98/99 season.

Tickets for next week's FA Youth Cup game with Leicester (Wednesday, 7pm KO) are priced as followed: £5 adults, £3 children. There are no other concessions and unlike reserve matches season ticket holders will not get in free.

Town's programme from last season has won Programme of the Year for Division One. The award will be presented to Mike Noye before this evening's game by David Stacey, Editor and Events Organiser of The Football Programme Directory. Noye, Town's Programme Controller, said: "We are delighted to win this award and hope that this season's editions will be equally well received particularly since we have increased the size and contents of the publication and made the issue widely available around the county prior to matches."

Tickets are on sale for the Liverpool game on Sunday 10th December. Details are thus: Monday 27th November: Portman Plus Gold and Blues Crew holders. Wednesday 29th November Season Ticket Holders, Portman Plus and Blues Crew members. Saturday 2nd December General public. Adult tickets are £23 with concessions for children and OAPs at £11.50. Town have 3000 tickets for this top of the table clash.

Long-term injury victim Wayne Brown is to visit a specialist about his troublesome groin. He may face an operation should the news be bad.
