Lewis Price and the Wales U21 side lost 2-0 to Austria in their UEFA Championship qualifier in Neusiedl Am See. Price, who had originally been called into the senior squad before switching to the U21s, was at fault for Austria's first goal, a 15-yard shot from Roman Kienast in the ninth minute.

Coach Bryan Flynn said the Town man, winning his sixth U21 cap, held his hands up for the error: "He came into the dressing room at the break and apologised, but there were a few things going wrong in front of him for the boy to get the chance in the first place.

"Their second goal gave the game a very unflattering look from our point of view, the scoreline did not reflect the game."

Jurgen Samuel grabbed the clincher 10 minutes from the end, beating a number of defenders and flicking the ball past Price.

Wales, who were skippered for the first time by former Town Academy defender Lee Beevers, felt they should have had two penalties and were perplexed at the 57th minute sending off of Wrexham's Craig Morgan.
