Strikers Dean Bowditch and Darryl Knights missed out on adding to their international caps on Wednesday night. Both Town men were left out as Knights's U17s and Bowditch's U19s completed successful UEFA European Championship qualification mini-tournament campaigns.

The U19s ended with a 1-0 win over Moldova, courtesy of a penalty from Sunderland's Grant Leadbitter.

Bowditch, currently on loan at Burnley, was on the bench for the Moldova match, the England side having secured qualification with earlier 1-0 wins over Denmark and Sweden, games which the Town striker had started.

The UEFA U19 European Championship will be played in Northern Ireland this summer.

Knights was also an unused sub, in the England U17 side's 3-1 win over the Rebublic of Ireland at Walsall's Bescot Stadium.

The Academy striker, who made his senior debut in the game at Sunderland in November, had come on as a 73rd minute sub in the 3-1 victory over Serbia and Montenegro and played the full 90 minutes of the 3-0 win against Northern Ireland.

The UEFA European U17 Championships are being held in Italy in May.
