Miller to Sunderland?
Miller to Sunderland?
Tuesday, 24th May 2005 10:47

Midfielder Tommy Miller is the latest Town player being linked with a summer move to Sunderland according to reports originating in the North-East. Darren Bent and Shefki Kuqi have both previously been reported to be amongst Mick McCarthy's close season targets.

Miller, 26, is out of contract at the end of June and would be available on a free transfer. The former Hartlepool man is from Easington close to Sunderland and has family who support the club.

Town's 15-goal third top scorer is currently away in Magaluf on his stag do and is expected to hold talks with Town boss Joe Royle, himself back yesterday from a week's break in Majorca, about a new deal at Portman Road.

However, the newly-promoted Black Cats would certainly be able to trump Town in the wages stakes. Miller has said he is happy to remain at Portman Road, but if the reports prove to be correct, the lure of the Premiership and a return to the North-East may be too strong.
