Reports in Scotland today indicate that former Town manager George Burley will be named manager of Hearts later today. The Scot has been in talks with the Edinburgh club for the last few days having left Derby earlier this month.

Burley is likely to take members of his old management team from Derby and Town to Tynecastle.

One member of his old Town staff who won't be with him is Tony Mowbray, manager of Hearts' arch rivals Hibernian.

The former Town skipper and coach has paid tribute to his new adversary: "George is an exceptionally good football manager, who is very good at putting a team together and identifying players as he showed over a short period of time at Derby.

"He was very persistent in getting me to Ipswich at a time when I was not looking to leave Celtic but we had a great time at Portman Road.

"George put together an exciting team that went on for a good few years.

"We were relatively successful, getting to the play-offs each year, culminating in getting to the Premiership and finishing fifth."
