Boss Joe Royle has confirmed that he could be interested in Nottingham Forest left-back Alan Rogers. Reports at the weekend linked the 28-year-old with a possible move to Portman Road.

Rogers still has two years left on his contract at Forest but has been made available on a free transfer by manager Gary Megson. Forest would have to settle the Liverpool-born player's contract ahead of any potential move to Town.

Royle says he has not be in touch with anyone regarding the former Leicester man but says a move for him is a possibility: "We have not spoken to Alan and, as far as we are aware, he is still contracted to Forest. But if the situation was to change, or he was to become available, then he is a player we could be interested in."

The Town boss is also waiting on hearing back about a couple of Premiership players, probably season-long loanees. The loan rules for 2005/06 are yet to be announced but will be more lax than last season's scheme in order to reduce the problems the introduction of the transfer window will cause Football League clubs.

Last season players over 24 years of age were limited to three month loan spells, a restriction which is not expected to be in place this time around.
