Joe: No Complaints

Boss Joe Royle had no complaints at Sheffield United's 2-0 defeat of his Town side at Bramall Lane. However, Royle did feel his side might have had a second penalty in the first half when Jason De Vos appeared to be fouled.

The Town manager said: "I couldn't argue with the result. They were stronger and better than us on the day.

"We passed it quite well at times, but I couldn't honestly say we threatened them. At the moment we're young and a little bit weak. We look toothless and can't buy a goal at the moment.

"We're still talking to clubs about the possibility of bringing a front player in and maybe even a midfield player. There's a limited budget available for loan players.

"We defended well throughout the game and I was very happy with that side of our game.

"Jason [De Vos] came back and did well after a long injury, and he and Richard Naylor were solid at the back for us.

"The first goal has taken a deflection and beaten Lewis and they caught us on the break right at the end when we have pushed players on to try and get an equaliser.

"The scoreline was probably a little harsh on us but I have no argument with them winning the game.

"We had plenty of possession, more than they did, and passed the ball well, but we didn't hurt them enough. We hardly created a chance and Darren Currie's penalty was possibly our only shot at goal.

"It wasn't the worst penalty you'll see but Darren didn't hit it as cleanly as he would have wanted to.

"We should have had a penalty in the first half as well for a blatant push on Jason, but I am not saying that or the missed penalty cost us the game. We simply didn't threaten them enough."

Neil Warnock said his side were worth their victory: "We deserved to win. The lads are working really hard, but we can still play better.

"It's the best start I've had and probably the best team I've ever had, but it doesn't mean anything. You've still got to be lucky and have a little of fortunes with injuries."
