Synnott Needs Surgery
Synnott Needs Surgery

Academy full-back Michael Synnott requires surgery on his ankle injury and won't play again until February. The young Irishman picked up the injury on his first day back in training after recovering from a ligament problem on his other ankle.

Synnott, who had knee surgery earlier in the year before returning in pre-season and picking up his previous ankle injury, will have his operation today, scans having shown a break to a bone.

Physio Dave Williams told the club site: "We are looking at four months or so before Michael is back playing again.

"He caught his studs in the grass when training on Thursday morning and went over on the ankle awkwardly.

"It's a fracture but it's on his 'good' ankle if you like and obviously not related in any way to the ankle ligament problem he had earlier this season."

Synnott was a member of last season's FA Youth Cup-winning side.
