Veteran defender Fabian Wilnis says he is a big supporter of initiatives like Kick Racism Out of Football. Teams throughout the country will wear shirts proclaiming an anti-racist message ahead of this weekend's matches.

The Dutchman told the club site: "I'm a big supporter of campaigns like Kick Racism Out and they have done a great job addressing the problem.

"Personally speaking though, in the six years I have been in England, I have not been the victim or seen any racism in the game here.

"I think it happened before my time really. Players like John Barnes and Viv Anderson, who were among the first black players to play in England, took a lot of stick, but that is not evident in the game today.

"Campaigns like Kick Racism Out have obviously played a big part in that and there is no place for racist attitudes in football or in life.

"Football is a way to entertain people, millions of people every week. It should not be an outlet for someone to express their anger against someone of a different colour or culture."
