Town have received good news regarding frontmen Nicky Forster and Adam Proudlock, both of whom have been out of action with knee problems of late. Forster will not now require exploratory surgery, while Proudlock is expected to return to training later in the week.

Physio Dave Williams told the club site: "Fozzie has had a scan and the specialist says there is no new evidence of a problem and is reluctant to operate at this stage.

"The knee is improving. It's certainly better than last week and as long as he keeps moving forward then surgery won't be necessary.

"He won't be involved at Southampton but Leeds at home at the end of the month is a possibility. It depends on how Fozzie's recovery progresses from here.

"We are guided by the specialist and he wants to give Fozzie every chance to recover without surgery. If he stops making progress though, then an operation obviously becomes more likely and that will mean a month out of the game."

Williams says that Proudlock is close to rejoining the squad for training: "Adam is improving now and is back running.

"If there is no problem, he could be back training with the first team at the end of the week."

Sam Parkin, out with a broken ankle, is also back running and is around a month away from a return to action.
