Reserves Beat Coventry
Reserves Beat Coventry
Tuesday, 21st Feb 2006 22:11

Goals from Darryl Knights and Chris Casement in the first half gave Town's second string a 2-0 win over their Coventry counterparts at Portman Road on Tuesday evening. The Blues thoroughly deserved the three points.

Knights put Town in front after only two minutes, beating the keeper with a right-foot shot.

After Liam Trotter and Billy Clarke came close, Jim Magilton's corner led to his fellow Northern Irishman Casement heading home.

Clarke went near to scoring again, before the Blues introduced FA Youth Cup final hero Edward Upson from the bench. Another schoolboy, Jordan Rhodes, made his reserves debut for the final quarter of an hour, having scored eight goals in his last three games at U16 and U18 levels. James Krause was also introduced after a spell on the sidelines with injury.

Late on, Clarke was again not far from getting his name on the scoresheet but watched his shot hit a post.
