Worst Season Since...

Town's end of season collapse could see them finish in their lowest position since Sir Alf Ramsey took them into the old Second Division for the first time by winning the Third Division (South) title in 1956/57.

The Blues currently sit in 16th but a worst case scenario could see them finish as far down as 21st, their lowest position since that promotion 49 years ago.

A finish in 16th would see the 1958/59 season emulated, while 15th would match the performance in 1965/66.

Town's most recent finish in the lower half of the second tier of English football came in John Lyall's first season at Portman Road, 1990/91, when the Blues struggled to 14th place. The following season much the same side won the Division Two championship to secure a place in the inaugural Premiership.
