Town's reserves defeated Leiston 2-0 in a game to celebrate 125 years of the Ridgeons League club. Sam Parkin got back to goalscoring action but later missed a penalty, academy striker Kieran Leabon grabbing the second.

Parkin was getting back to action after his recuperation from his broken ankle stalled having made only one previous reserves appearance. Last summer's £450,000 signing from Swindon put the Blues in front in the 25th minute with a shot from the edge of the area.

Ian Westlake was also in the side after his recent ankle problem and was the pick of the Town players and like Parkin played just over an hour. Also impressive were subs Ed Upson and Jordan Rhodes, the latter winning the second half spotkick which Parkin failed to convert.

The Blues fielded Spanish trialists Jose Carrasco and Daniel Orosco at the centre of the defence. The duo, who currently play for Spanish lower league side UD Fuengirola-Los Boliches, did well playing the full 90 minutes in front of the watching Joe Royle.

Town introduced another trialist as a late substitute, 18-year-old midfielder Ryan Watts, who is currently with Brentford.

Also amongst those watching was former Town coach Charlie Woods, now assisting Sir Bobby Robson and Steve Staunton with the Republic of Ireland national side.

Reserves: Andy Plummer, James Krause, Scott Barron (Luke Webster), Vemund Brekke Skard (Tony Boto), Jose Carrasco, Daniel Orosco, Kieran Leabon (Ed Upson), Liam Trotter, Sam Parkin (Ryan Watts), Darryl Knights, Ian Westlake (Jordan Rhodes).
