Dyer in England Side!
Dyer in England Side!

Apologies if this is starting to sound more like a Newcastle news service over the last couple of days, but today's big news is that former Town man Kieron Dyer has been given a place in Kevin Keegan's starting line-up for tomorrow's make or break, crunch, do or die fixture with the mighty Luxembourg. Kieron will be starting as right wing back, the role he has generally filled as an U21 international.

Kieron's first England cap also means that Town are entitled to another £500,000 from Newcastle as part of the additions to the £6 million paid at the time of the deal. Our best wishes go to Kieron. The full side is: Martyn (Leeds), Dyer (Ips... er Newcastle), Adams (Arsenal), Keown (Arsenal), Pearce (West Ham), Parlour (Arsenal) Batty (Leeds), Beckham (Man Utd) McManaman (Real Madrid), Shearer (Newcastle), Fowler Liverpool.

Richard Wright is on the bench for tonight's U21 match. With David Seaman injured it is also likely that he will be amongst the subs for tomorrow's full international. Let's hope that if he is he gets a couple of minutes, and becomes the first Town player to be capped for England since Terry Butcher.

Sean Friars will start tonight's Northern Ireland U21 match with Turkey. Manager Chris Nicholl has said he is not tooo worried by the loss of Norwich's Phil Mulryne, injured at the weekend: ""We have quite a few people other than Mulryne who can be matchwinners including Damien Johnson, Sean Friars and Adrian Coote." It seems he rates our boy quite highly.

The Irish side to meet Croatia has not been named as yet, although word has it that Blackburn's Lee Carsley will take Roy Keane's place and Matt Holland will be on the bench.
