West Brom assistant boss Nigel Pearson is reportedly amongst those to have been interviewed for the Town manager's job. The former Sheffield Wednesday defender was previously a coach in the England youth set-up before to moving to the Hawthorns in November 2004 as Bryan Robson's assistant.

Pearson's only previous managerial job was at Carlisle United between December 1998 and May 1999, goalkeeper Jimmy Glass's famous last minute goal preventing the Cumbrians from dropping out of the league. Prior to that, he had a stint as first team coach at Stoke City.

During his days as a centre-half, Pearson was with Heanor Town, Shrewsbury Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough, where he was captain and helped them to promotion to the Premiership in 1994/95, before retiring in 1998.
