No Pearson Confirmed
No Pearson Confirmed

A Midlands newspaper appears to confirm TWTD's Friday report ruling West Brom assistant boss Nigel Pearson out of the running for the Town manager's job.

The Birmingham Sunday Mercury reports that Pearson has been informed by Town chairman David Sheepshanks that he is not being considered for the position vacated by Joe Royle earlier this month, having been interviewed at a London hotel last week.

West Brom had given the Blues permission to speak to the former Middlesbrough captain but, as we revealed on Friday, Pearson's is not one of the names on the shortlist.

TWTD also broke the news that skipper Jim Magilton's bid for the manager's job would see academy chief Bryan Klug assist him in a director of football role.

The duo increasingly appear to be the favourites to take over from Royle, while other candidates on the shortlist are understood to be Northampton's Colin Calderwood, QPR's on-gardening-leave boss Ian Holloway and current assistant manager Willie Donachie.

Should the Magilton-Klug team be given the job, the Blues would avoid paying the compensation due were the position to be offered to a boss currently employed elsewhere.
