Calderwood Joining Forest
Calderwood Joining Forest

Northampton manager Colin Calderwood will be named Nottingham Forest manager within the next few days after talks at the City Ground yesterday. The former Spurs cenral defender was interviewed by Town last week and was understood to be on the shortlist to replace Joe Royle at Portman Road.

Forest were given permission to approach Calderwood over the weekend and have moved quickly to capture the 41-year-old, who took the Cobblers to second place in League Two last season.

Calderwood's decision not to take the Town job increases the chances of the Jim Magilton-Bryan Klug partnership becoming a reality.

The duo are likely to be interviewed for a second time in the next few days, Klug having been away on a coaching course last week.

Should Magilton be named Town's new manager, Klug would take on a director of football role which would see him continue to run the club's highly successful academy as well as assisting the former Northern Irish international with the first team.
