No Five Live Coverage for Semi
No Five Live Coverage for Semi

Town's crucial semi-final second leg with Birmingham City has been snubbed by BBC's Five Live in favour of a Premiership game between Manchester United and Sunderland. This is on top of both Sky and the ITV network refusing to show the game live on TV.

With the Worthington Cup supposedly an important competition a semi-final second leg with the game delicately balanced at 1-0 ought to be a prime target for coverage, but this seems not to be the case.

Town's Worthington Cup tie has been repeatedly treated in a second rate manner with the game already moved after West Midlands Police decided belatedly that they couldn't organise themselves for two games in the same city on the same night. Rather than moving a re-arranged midtable Premiership game between Aston Villa and Leeds the football authorities and the police move the Town-Birmingham game, much to the chagrin of the two clubs.

This latest development must lead to further questions being asked about the Worthington Cup's status with now the police, the football authorities and the media rating a semi-final below bread and butter Premiership fixtures.

If you wish to register a protest to BBC Five Live on this matter email Ian Payne at this address: ian.payne@bbc.co.uk

Radio Suffolk will be covering the game and their commentary will be available via the web at the usual sources. The TWTD chatroom will also be a source for information throughout the game.
