Daniel Cunningham scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute. Billy Clarke came closest to scoring for the Blues, who were watched by Jim Magilton, Bryan Klug and Charlie Woods, these days working for the Republic of Ireland with Sir Bobby Robson. Kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes due to the crowd of 1,036. Reserves: Plummer, Webster, Barron, Reason, Nash, Synnott (Upson), Trotter (Robinson), Knights, Clarke, Haynes, Moore (Short).
