Klug: Dean Can Still Star
Klug: Dean Can Still Star

New first team coach Bryan Klug says that striker Dean Bowditch can still star at Town, if he plays to his strengths. Klug was talking to TWTD as part of an interview for the first 2006/07 issue of the fanzine, out Saturday.

Klug says the 20-year-old should try to play his natural game: "Dean was without doubt one of the most talented players we've had through our academy. I struggle to think of a more talented technical player, but technical players find it more physical when it comes to the first team and the Championship.

"I think Dean has had problems adjusting to that and in my opinion has tried to become a player playing a different style and not being what Dean Bowditch is: a technical player who plays as much as he can without contact. If he loses that ability to find space and get in between people, he's not as good a player. And because of that he's lost a lot of confidence.

"Certainly working with him now he's not as confident as he was at 17. So, we're trying to rebuild that and trying to get him doing what he's good at. If he does that we could have a very, very good player. If not, he's always going to be in and out of the team."

TWTD issue 83 will be on sale from our sellers by Sir Alf, Sir Bobby, Planet Blue and the Portman Road entrance to the Greene King Stand for two hours before kick-off on Saturday.

Alternatively, you can sign up to a six-issue subscription and receive your copy by post. These available for free by joining one of our betting affiliates or from £9.50. Visit TWTDonline to sign up to either scheme.
