Bullard Set to Be Unveiled as Jewell's First Town Signing Wed 26th Jan 2011 23:19
Hull City's Jimmy Bullard looks set to be unveiled as Paul Jewell's first Town signing on Thursday with the midfielder understood to have completed his loan switch to the Blues. TWTD was first to reveal that the 32-year-old was at Portman Road this morning for talks regarding his half-season spell which sees him reunited with Jewell, who was previously his boss at Wigan.

Chief executive Simon Clegg paid tribute to Town’s 9,000-strong following at the Emirates Stadium for last night’s Carling Cup semi-final second leg and said it was a proud night for the club, despite the Blues falling to a 3-0 defeat and losing the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

TWTD understands that Town are close to completing the loan signing of Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard. The 32-year-old is expected at Portman Road today and looks likely to be reunited with his former Wigan boss Paul Jewell in the next few days.

Town’s Carling Cup Wembley dream finally came to an end as goals from Nicklas Bendtner, Laurent Koscielny and Cesc Fabregas consigned Paul Jewell’s men to a 3-0 semi-final second leg defeat at the Emirates. The Blues, a goal up from the first leg, held out for 151 minutes of both games before conceding two goals in three minutes just after the hour mark and then the third in the 77th minute.

Town have made an enquiry to Preston North End regarding central defender Sean St Ledger, according to one of this morning’s tabloids. However, the Blues were reportedly put off by the Lilywhites’ £2.5 million asking price.
