Town fans will be dismayed to discover that we are to meet Manchester City away in the next round of the Worthington Cup. City beat Wimbledon 2-1 tonight at Manie Road. Other ties are: Birmingham v Sheffield Wednesday, Liverpool v Fulham and Crystal Palace v Sunderland.

Richard Wright will miss Saturday's game at Derby after it was revealed he had a small fracture in his left wrist. The Town keeper, missing for the first time in years last night, will have a cast on his wrist until next week when he will have an x-ray. He is expected to be fit for the away game at Liverpool on December 10th.

Despite stories eminating from Manchester to the contrary Town are saying that David Johnson will not be leaving the club. Reports yesterday quoted Johnson saying he would be tempted by an offer for City. This may be true, however with Richard Naylor out for six weeks with his knee problem Town are certainly not going to sell a striker.
Magilton and Venus Also Doubtful Tue 28th Nov 2000 09:40
Jim Magilton and Mark Venus could be among the missing regulars from the Town side this evening. The midfielder has a bruised foot and may make way for Martijn Reuser, while the defender has has a bruised ankle. Titus Bramble is favourite to play alongside John Scales. George Burley has said he won't risk players in the Worthington Cup and therefore it seems that Reuser and Bramble will have a chance to stake their claims for regular starting positions.
