McCarthy: Players Will Still Want to Win at Burnley Fri 03rd May 2013
Town boss Mick McCarthy expects his players to show their competitive nature at Burnley on Saturday, despite having secured their Championship place for another season by beating Birmingham last weekend (KO 12.45pm). The Blues manager has promised changes to his team for the final game of the 2012/13 campaign.
Birmingham Win Was Vital Sat 27th Apr 2013
Blues boss Mick McCarthy believes his side’s 1-0 win at Birmingham in his first game in charge back in November was vital to Town staying in the Championship. Former loanee DJ Campbell netted the only goal of that match after eight minutes to take the three points away from St Andrew’s.
Hewitt in for Stearman Against Birmingham Fri 26th Apr 2013
Mick McCarthy looks set to make one enforced change for Saturday’s final home game of the season against Birmingham City with Richard Stearman expected to miss out with the hamstring injury he suffered at Sheffield Wednesday. Elliott Hewitt, 18, is set to come in at right-back for his third start for the Blues.
McCarthy Faces Dilemmas for Derby Trip Fri 05th Apr 2013
Manager Mick McCarthy has selection dilemmas ahead of Saturday’s game at Derby County. After the 3-0 home victory over Leeds, the Blues boss made five changes to his more regular line-up for Monday’s 0-0 draw at Millwall.
McCarthy Weighing Up Changes For Millwall Trip Mon 01st Apr 2013
Boss Mick McCarthy has been weighing up whether to make changes to his starting XI ahead of today’s visit to his old club Millwall (KO 3pm). The Blues manager was pleased to be in the position to rest some of his regulars during the second half of Saturday’s 3-0 home victory over Leeds.
Chopra and Stearman Back for Bolton Clash Fri 15th Mar 2013
Michael Chopra and Richard Stearman will be back in the Town side for Saturday’s home game against in-form Bolton Wanderers. Left-back Aaron Cresswell is expected to be fine, despite suffering an ankle problem in training, but right-back Elliott Hewitt and striker Frank Nouble both miss out due to injuries.
McCarthy: No Surprise Forest Are Challenging Tue 05th Mar 2013
Mick McCarthy says it's no surprise to him that Nottingham Forest, who the Blues face at the City Ground this evening, are currently eighth in the Championship (KO 7.45pm). Skipper Carlos Edwards is a doubt with a groin problem suffered in the 1-0 victory over Leicester on Saturday, while striker David McGoldrick is unavailable against his parent club.
Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Town Sat 09th Feb 2013
Former Blues striker Jordan Rhodes netted just after the hour to see Town to a 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers in a scrappy affair at Ewood Park. There was little between the teams in a poor game with the only goal somewhat fortunate, Aaron Cresswell clearing off the line from Grant Hanley and Rhodes stabbing it over the line off Blues keeper Stephen Henderson.
Henderson Return Only Change at Blackburn Sat 09th Feb 2013
Town boss Mick McCarthy has named the expected side for today’s game at Blackburn with Stephen Henderson replacing the injured Scott Loach in goal the only change from last week's 4-0 victory over Middlesbrough. Loach suffered a sprained thumb in training on Thursday. Town will wear last season's black away kit.
Rhodes Amongst the Championship's Best Sat 09th Feb 2013
Town boss Mick McCarthy rates former Blues frontman Jordan Rhodes as one of the top goalscorers in the Championship. Blackburn striker Rhodes, 23, faces his old club for the first time today when the Blues are in action at Ewood Park.
