towntalk added 19:39 - Nov 24 Very, very nervy first half. Peterborough had the better shape and looked more comfortable, so no great surprise when they scored. We could barely complete two or three passes for the first half hour, but the boys tried hard and eventually worked up some rythmn for the last ten minutes of the half. Carlos Edwards put in some half decent crosses, but we struggled with two small guys up front. Thought N'Daw was man of the match. Challenged for everything, won most things and marshalled play. Reo Coker on the other was poor. Bradley Orr looked very promising at right back. Their goal looked soft but couldn't see if a mistake gifted it to them. We deserved our equaliser but never created much. Here's to better things on Tuesday.

TimmyH added 20:01 - Nov 24 Fist game I have seen this season and was expecting wholesale changes as per Mick's pre-match banter and all we had was Chopra replacing Murphy and playing slightly behind Campbell and Smith replacing Chambers. The first half began tepidly although Boro were the livelier and our defense looking it's typically nervy self ( from where I was sitting I could see our defensive line and it was all over the place with Higginbotham trying to bark out orders). Within 9 minutes they had scored with a typical soft goal as their goalscorer waltzed through with our defense ball watching and yet again not on the same wave length. There after was 30 odd minutes of misplaced passes and a lack of penetration apart from the odd sorte from Martin or Edwards down the right side our only clear cut opportunity coming from a long cross from the right and think found Martin free to head straight at the goalkeeper. The half ended with not surprising boo's. The second half started with somewhat of a better tempo with our midfield pushing up higher and again the threats coming from Martin and the composed Edwards (good on the ball and with passes and crossing). Not surprising that Martin got us a penalty on 60 minutes as he nipped onto his right and was allegedly caught, penalty dispatched by Campbell who should have added another some 10 minutes later from a pin point ball from Edwards with the goal at his mercy. It wasn't all Ipswich and Peterboro had chances too as they ran at our inept defense with 2 reasonably good saves from Henderson and another attempt hit wide of the left stick after a break down our right side. Martin saw an athletical effort saved and another tipped over the bar by their keeper. Overall defeat would have been harsh on Boro as they probably were the more fluent when attacking. After the first game this season I left feeling not over confident of our chances of getting out of the relegation zone, only a few players on the pitch today I had any praise for - January transfer window beckons and hopefully a few I saw today will be leaving. Ratings: HENDERSON - 6 After a nervy first half 2 good second half saves although distribution at times was lacking. ORR - 5 Yet to settle down, rather lacking in pace and made a couple of errors although tried to help Edwards second half. SMITH - 5 Fairly quiet and a few times forced into mistakes in passing and caught on the ball. HIGGINBOTHAM - 5 Had the ball too much first half (if your saw his passing first half you know that's not a good thing). Partly at fault for their goal. CRESSWELL - 4 Continually looks nervous now we are playing 442 and had little impact on the game. N'DAW - 5 Little quality, when the going gets rough he's in there but that's about it. REO-COKER - 5 Contributed little in the centre and always the first to moan if something goes wrong, doesn't look Premiership standard. MARTIN - 7 Threatened at times with pace, got our penalty and had another effort well saved. EDWARDS - 7 Our man of the match (again) - quality on the ball with crossing and passing and is usually behind a lot of our best moves and now playing in his right position. CHOPRA - 5 Played seemingly behind Campbell and had the odd move first half and put in strangely a few tackles but no sight of goal and largely ineffective. CAMPBELL - 6 Coolly took the penalty but missed a guilt edged chance afterwards. Our threat in the middle. Subs: Murphy 6 JET 6 Hyam 5 Overall: fairly disappointing although somewhat better second half but the defense continues to creek, centre of midfield looks to have little quality and this needs changing. Draw probably the right result.

BerkshireBlue added 20:58 - Nov 24 Another long trip only to be left disappointed once again. First half Town were truly dire and it came as no surprise to see us go a goal down. As soon as Tomlin waltzed through our bemused defence I knew a goal was forthcoming. Henderson doesn't inspire confidence and is not one to pull off saves that keep us in a game; true to form he conceded. Our fragile confidence was again quite evident as passes went astray time after time; with Reo-Coker being the worst offender. We created nothing and there was little passion, fluency or bite about our play. Thankfully, Town were much better in the second half with a few players at last showing a bit of resolve, effort and desire. The equaliser was deserved on the balance of play; after which both sides had opportunities to win the game. Henderson redeemed himself somewhat by pulling off a couple of decent saves (something I would expect from a keeper!), Orr and Higgingbottom grew in stature and confidence as the game went on; Edwards and Martin both worked hard on their respective wings and put in a number of crosses; in the middle N'Daw put himself about a bit but lacked quality whilst Reo-Coker continued to contribute silch (he still appears unfit, slow and disinterested); up front DJ and Chopra worked hard but had very few opportunities. On the face of it the Town players man for man appear to be far better than the Posh players but confidence (the lack of it in our case) is a great leveler; bottom line is that Posh were more confident and more up for it than us. That having said, a draw was probably a fair result. In closing I would add that I've now seen Reo-Coker three times and three times he has played very poorly indeed. I was really chuffed with his signing but so far he has not cut the mustard and we're carrying him. I cannot recall a single incisive pass into space that has lead to a goal scoring chance; all too often he has not get stuck in to a tackle; his first touch and ball control has often been poor allowing the opposition to steal the ball from him; he appears slow and unfit; but he's the first to mouth off at others! Personally, I would 'rest' him and play Hyam against Forest (injury may hopefully force this anyway). I would also play Loach ahead of Henderson every time!

RegencyBlue added 22:02 - Nov 24 Shockingly poor first half IMHO. We just did not look interested and a better team than Peterborough would have taken full advantage of our lacklustre performance. No shots on target and not even one corner, for the home side, tells its own story! Defence was poor in the build up to Peterborough's goal. Second half was better but it would have been hard to be worse. Orr improved after an initially poor home debut whilst Campbell and Chopra worked hard but received very little quality service. I'd say we were lucky today because Peterborough were the better side overall and at times seemed to want it more. Given our situation thats not good!

LincsBluebelly added 22:37 - Nov 24 A very poor performance from start to finish. It was very disappointing to hear our own fans booing Henderson at the beginning of each half...is it any wonder his confidence is low? I actually thought he played ok and made two or three crucial saves. The defence looks very poor, especially the two centre backs. Having said that, Cresswell did ok. The real problem for me is the weak spine as, to add to the suspect centre backs, the two central midfielders have very little to offer...they neither add protection to our back line nor do they create anything going forward. Edwards and Martin both worked hard and had decent-ish games. Up front I thought both Chopra and Campbell put in decent shifts and closed down the Posh defence well but had limited opportunities in front of goal. To finish, all I can say is that unless we get some better players in during January then there's a very real possibility that we could go down.

dubblue added 23:52 - Nov 25 Town were dreadful in the first 45 mins - could not string a few passes. While they were a lot better in the second half we've got to remember that Peterborough are bottom of the division. Best town players Martin and Edwards. Campbell took his penalty well.
