Soundbar Advice
at 13:25 13 May 2020

Even that requires a subwoofer to make it come alive. So, 2 grand, plus the cost of the sub. Great if you can afford it, theres no doubt thats the reference soundbar setup at this point. Quite a big, ugly thing though.

If you are a Sky subscriber, the Sky Soundbox can be bought for a very reasonable price. About £200. Turning it up a bit and watching a movie with a good sound track shows its a class piece of kit. Its made by Devialet, a company that makes very expensive wireless active speakers. I've been very impressed. Trumped any Sonos I've listened to, they only really work if you spend a fortune on the matching subwoofer.

I had a season ticket in the lower Bobby that year. Home Championship 'derby' games against Norwich, Colchester, Peterborough and Southend.

When Colchester went up to Carrow Road, the Colchester fans were all signing to the Norwich fans "we hate Ipswich more than you!" Gotta laugh hey.

Must admit they were noiser than the Norwich fans at kick off and for most of the game. The lower Bobby carried on as normal signing the usual mix of songs until about 30 minutes in when all of a sudden someone piped up with "you mean f**k all to us, you mean f**k all to us", and I thought yep, that sums it up.

Romford's racing preview - Royal Ascot 2019 - Day 1
at 14:17 19 Jun 2019

What about a massive race like the Epsom Derby, is that still fixed? With so many derby trials leading up to the event, it so often goes to form (within reason). Is something of this scale also open to fixing? I went to the Epsom Derby the year that Sea the Stars romped home. It was the horse everyone said to back on the nose, and it won with ease.

Romford's racing preview - Royal Ascot 2019 - Day 1
at 13:51 19 Jun 2019

I have really enjoyed reading all your posts on this thread, quite an insight. I like an occasional flutter, but keep it to a couple of quid because I lose 9 times out of 10. It is a complete gamble, my personal gut feel which is usually wrong. When I have been to the Newmarket races, I've stood by the parade ring with a pint of beer thinking "yep, they are all definitely horses, and that one has been brushed rather nicely". So things I've noted from you:
1) Sweaty horse bad. Calm horse good.
2) Buy The Racing Paper on the way to Newmarket.
3) Befriend an employee of a bookies who can share the insiders scoop.

You won't be happy to hear that Purdis has just spent a fortune on a 3 year programme to remove almost every tree from their once tree-lined fairways.

So Ed Sheeran will be worth more than Evans in a couple of years
at 12:44 19 Jun 2019

Does alcohol, drugs and woman amount to a hobby? In which case many a man on this forum will have spent 45% of their monthly salary on their hobby.

Fast-forward twenty years and many with that lifestyle will now be divorced, and spending 70% of their salary paying for the same hobby but without the benefits. Very much like how Evans probably feels these days.

Have spent some company with HH's in the past. Wasn't much of a looker, but didn't need to be with such a grand mantle piece.

And linking it to this fine football club, Rushmere was the club of choice for none other than Sir Alf Ramsey.

Woodbridge is where Charlie Woods played his golf, with Kieron Dyer also a member there these days.

Reyes car was doing over 135 mph when it crashed

Surely I can't be the only one on here that has travelled at this speed before? Not on a daily commute, or even at a busy time, but once in a blue moon. It's not big or clever, but its happened. Reading all the comments so far, I can imagine you all do 60mph down the middle lane and that's your lot.

Where is the worst place to fart ?
at 12:53 20 Mar 2019

Back in my days at Suffolk College, a female friend told me of her first experience of a 'numerically named night time activity' with her first proper boyfriend. Towards the end of said numerically named activity, where she is on top and he is underneath, he reached his crescendo much to the unexpected surprise of the female. So surprised, it did indeed cause her to fart.

Very wise advice. I give the day much respect for this reason. I then like the missus to acknowledge this by respecting March 14th, I do like a good steak dinner.

Anyone recommend some noise-cancelling headphones?
at 09:36 22 Jan 2019

Well any pair of headphones will do that, they don't have to be noise cancelling. Assuming that is that you are playing music through them. Without music playing, the only noise cancelled is a constant noise like an airplane drone, train/tube rattle, air conditioning etc. People talking around you with noise cancelling switched on but no music playing can still be heard, admittedly slightly quieter.

I tried them all (in Dixons at Stansted) before buying. It comes down to which of these two you see as a priority; sound quality or comfort. For sound quality, the Sony MX-1000 M2 win. For comfort, the Bose QC35. I went for the Bose. I can wear these for 2 hours straight in absolute comfort.

"I could've been in the arms of my future wife, the new light of my life, blissful."

This would have resonated more had you worded it as going balls deep on a second date.

I've not tried either of these, but they are both local companies that could be worth a try:

If Sky puts any Ipswich game on Sky, I will not be at the ground. I will then pay for an additional 3, 4, 5 whatever games live per season. By going Sunday I would be "paying twice".

I never said that. You've jumped to the conclusion that I never go. I pay to go to plenty of games when they are not on TV. Of late I've been going to many away games that fit in with my work travelling around the country. But if I am going to decide to purchase maybe 3 or 4 tickets a season, why would I do so on one of the few games I could already watch. Of course this is the best game of the year, but I'm also being sensible about it; the most ITFC watching per pound across the season.
