Our best player ever bar none. Even Sir Bobby said so. Legend - condolences to his friends & family. |
| News Comment | Beer Me Now Offer for TWTD Readers at 18:48:50
I'll be given them a try & FYI the East of England stand ran out of beer as well. Brought two guests who were delighted to abuse me accordingly. Pretty poor really as I assume we could work out that they may be a few people at the game... |
| News Comment | Exeter City 1-1 Ipswich Town (4-2 on pens) - Match Report at 22:48:35
Haven't posted much recently as got bored reading school playground insults from keyboard to keyboard. That doesn't seem to have changed much reading this timeline.. To me MM leaving was definitely the right decision. If he stayed we needed to change the club crest to a groundhog. We couldn't go on with the status quo. I don't hate the man but he had his time in my view. The board needed to pick the manager and they have.I can't believe people are talking crisis after 2 league games & a cup match. The same people posting about getting new players are the same ones saying we now have too many.We all want the team to win and play well. That's why we go to games and why lots of different opinions on this site have been going for decades. My suggestion is get behind the team and the boss. If petty insults to people you don't even know and will probably never meet is your thing then fine but don't bring that Saturday or at Derby. I'm looking forward - but nervous - about both games but either way the team needs us behind them. COYB! |

How sad am I...sitting watching text update of a penalty shoot out in Vilamoura. We lost and the wife got the hump! Keep the faith. We needed a change of manager and having picked one to panic after a week would be mad. Couple of wins and everything looks miles better so let's get behind them on Saturday & hope our record at Derby continues Tuesday. Better go now or I'm divorced! COYB... |

Big fan of Skuse and I suppose if PH picks him then maybe he isn't just one of Mick's favourites and more that he does his job very well. Same applies to Chambers and the rest of the team. Pleased with new manager - not an expert on him but like the profile of young & progressive manager who seems to want to play on the front foot. Time will tell but I for one am looking forward to the new season. Now back to the barbie for the summer.. |
| News Comment | QPR, Bolton and Blackburn Among Clubs Linked With McGoldrick at 18:42:03
I think we all like him as a player but we all know he is always injured.. Good decision to release him but I hope he gets a good club and a good deal and wish him all the best. In the meantime roll on the new manager, new ideas & a positive attitude at our club! COYB! |
| News Comment | Steijn: I Expect to Stay With VVV-Venlo at 22:03:59
What we should do is get a Spanish manager as Guardiola has just won PL. Or a Brazilian because of Santos at Wolves. What a load of rubbish.. The board needs to step up and find the right candidate. I don't care if there Dutch, French or from deepest Norfolk! |
| News Comment | Sherwood in Contention for Town Job at 21:55:49
TBH I'd take him but only if he is going to get backed financially by Evans which is an obvious doubt. He did great at Spurs & got Villa to a cup final. He is young and ambitious with his own ideas. As previously stated I think the type of manager and the support they get from the owner is the biggest issue. Couldn't care less re the tenuous NCFC link. So what? It's not like we are asking Huckerby to be the next boss. Some fans would have us think anyone who has stayed overnight in Norwich shouldn't be considered. Getting the right one he task for the board. Confident they can do that? Me neither but tbh Sherwood wouldn't be the worst choice in my view. |
| News Comment | Hurst: Town Link a Compliment at 22:22:11
Have to admit I'm more bothered about type of manager & don't know too much about Paul but he is the type I think we need. By that I mean young and upcoming with new ideas and positive attitude. I don't profess to knowing much about a few of the candidates but whoever it is needs to change the feel around the club. COYB! |
| News Comment | Skuse Pays Tribute to Departing Bosses at 20:04:55
Lots of talk re MM going but IMO time to go was 12 months ago. Good start but negative tactics & relationship with fans mean the end should have been well before last night. You can't swear at fans live on TV, then deny the obvious & then expect everything to be fine and dandy. ME & the board need to get a positive manager in and given their previous record I'm not confident. BUT Skuse is a good player in his role. He is a good player at this level. The problem is constantly picking similar players like Douglas & even defenders playing out of position to partner him. Keep him and add young creative players - if they stay fit! - and maybe the outlook will look better. Either way I hope we can change the outlook for the club as I'm worried the future is very uncertain at the moment. |
| News Comment | McCarthy Hints at Early Town Exit at 22:06:10
Controversially for this site MM deserves some credit for working with his hands tied BUT he should have gone 18 months ago. The farce that now exists is a money saving exercise and/or a stop gap until the preferred choice is available. Whichever is true it shows that ME is in it for the money & even more importantly clueless. Why leave any manager in this situation. Pay him up his 2 months wages and get a new man in or use a caretaker. It's not rocket science and please tell me any advantage of MM staying now until end of the season. The worry is can we trust the board to make a good choice. I'm not confident given there performance over the last few years... |
| News Comment | Ex-England Boss McClaren Linked With Town at 06:50:37
Doubt he would come but Paul Cook at Wigan would be my choice. Did well at Chesterfield, very well at Pompey & even better at Wigan. Plays positive football which is a must for us given the current despondency surrounding the club. The sobering fact is maybe managing Wigan might be a more attractive option? It is certainly debatable which in itself is a sad reflection of where we stand. |
| News Comment | QPR 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:43:34
Interesting reading the comments from all 'sides' here as some would have it we support different teams depending on your views of MM. I'm in the MM out camp. That said 12 pts from 6 games with the injury situation we have is good. I hope to be proved wrong but I'll be surprised if we are top half. I share the view that MM sets up not to lose rather than win. Let's see what the next 6 games bring - another 12 pts & some fit centre halfs would be good. If your being fair MM should be praised for that but there are 40 games to go! Either way a bit less playground style name calling on TWTD would be good. Don't get the two camps bit - I'm not a moaner I'm a fan! COYB! |
| News Comment | Folami Nets Late Winner for U23s at Wednesday at 20:29:11
Agree Celina needs to be playing. Creativity & pace. Pleased Adeyemi played 80 mins. Getting players fit is our priority. Disappointed re no CB as I am sure MM is. Despite my reservations re him as manager still agree we need to get behind the lads now and see what happens. We have goals in the team which I hope will help! COYB! |
| News Comment | McCarthy: They Absolutely Bashed Us at 20:03:51
Big picture time.. Great start to season overall. Well done to MM & everyone for that. Two weeks to get as many players back playing and we then move on. Long-term we will see. I'm not changing my opinion and neither am I changing my support for the team. COYB! |
| News Comment | Town Chasing Record-Breaking Five Out of Five Start Against Fulham at 07:22:42
Tough game - saw both fixtures last year and they were defo the best team I saw against us.. BUT we have started well & they haven't. Lots of players are scoring for us which is great at any level. Let's get a win and then enjoy the 2 week break. COYB! |
| News Comment | Crystal Palace 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 08:48:35
I'm from the MM out camp. However I don't believe he has changed the team & tactics based on fan opinions. Don't you think its a bit arrogant to blame the manager & owner when things are not going well and then if they improve to claim the credit? Well done to the lads last night. Whether the improvement can be sustained only time will tell. I have my doubts. Either way credit to MM & the squad and here's hoping for a win again Saturday. COYB! |
| News Comment | All-Change for Town at Palace at 15:23:55
I have been critical of MM & the club re cup teams in the past - Man Utd away, Lincoln etc - but can't criticise this decision. We have to prioritise & I have to agree with the manager with the injuries we have the team selection for this match is obvious. Hope they do alright but hope is not based on confidence. COYB! |
