...Roy Keane was a spectacularly bad appointment from someone who was new to the Club and didn't really 'get it'. At least over the last ten years Marcus now seems to understand what we are about, and seems much more clued up about football, and particularly, ITFC.
I think the next appointment will be a much better fit than any of the previous three. RK was a quick-fix, media profile-raising punt. It failed. Paul Jewell was not able to replicate his previous successes, and clearly lost direction pretty quickly, turning to mercenaries to try to reverse the tide. MM was the right man for the job at the time, but wasn't going to take us any further, although has left us in a decent enough shape. The new manager will inherit a better squad, some stability, and a clear mandate of what is required in terms of entertainment. The fact that ME is not rushing into a decision can only be a good thing - although frustrating for the impatient amongst us. |
