IFAB trial to prevent keepers holding onto the ball
at 18:56 17 Apr 2024

I actually didn’t mind them changing the injury time after they realised 13mins was ridiculous. It seems more accurate these days.

What really winds me up which was working is the fact they’ve stopped giving yellows out for obvious obstruction of the ball/kicking it away when a FK is given. Players very quickly stopped that nonsense at the start of the season and then within a month they let it creep back in.

Has KM worked with Dele Ali before?
at 11:06 17 Apr 2024

Agreed. I think we’ll see in the summer how honest he’s being about his WC target whether he puts football before money. Following Barkleys route of joining a newly promoted or lower prem team to prioritise minutes over money would do him wonders I feel. Still an outstanding footballer when fit and in the right frame of mind.

Think he would suit our number 10 position very well.

Was the away end as bad as it came across on the television?
at 01:29 7 Apr 2024

So did the 400 giveaway’s stop the other 1600 fans singing? Atmosphere sounded pathetic on the TV.

Much like home games, too many fans not making enough effort to support this incredible team. Over the last two years much has been made about the acoustics of PR but Monday confirmed there’s no issue there, it just needs enough people to put the effort in.

Or Nathan Broadhead scored that FK moments before HT against Wednesday.

Ours is similar after redoing it before the start of last season.

I wonder if they’ll do a big screen in the fanzone? There must be enough interest for it.

A few threads today have had me thinking
at 15:59 14 Mar 2024

The best thing would have been for him to have never bought us in the first place. I’ve said before but having seen now how a football club should be run, I’m staggered beyond belief why he even bothered owning us when he put such little effort into it. Even after he had tightened the purse strings, there was so much we could have done as a football club to improve things without investment that we just seemed to ignore.

Anyway my original point was that if we hadn’t have been relegated, arguably Evans could still be be here which would have deprived us of the last two years.

All irrelevant anyway as he’s no longer here and I now love going to PR again. It’s no longer a chore like it was 2017-21.

There is an argument that it was the best thing for us in the long term. Had we continued in the Championship, would the new owners still have invested in us as ME would have probably wanted more money?

No doubt we had to suffer miserably for a couple of years but these last 2 years have been the most enjoyable since I’ve been going (from 04/05 season).

I’m hoping we score a 97th min double deflection as the Leeds and Leicester fans watch on.

Would you take Downes back on loan?
at 10:59 9 Mar 2024

I’d be more concerned with a players attitude if they did want to stay. We were a shambles back then and seeing how well we’re run now only highlights that.

Fans expect players to show loyalty to a club for their whole career yet a player has two or three bad games and fans are straight on their back saying they’re not good enough and need to be replaced.

A week ago Jurgen klopp described The Championship as "Insane."
at 20:18 7 Mar 2024

In terms of points yes but I do think we’re quite lucky that the standard this year, like last year in the championship has been rather poor, which is what has allowed us along with the other three to accumulate so many points.

Can anyone tell me where I can sit in the stadium
at 21:49 24 Feb 2024

Not many places these days.

We have to put up with some absolute morons behind us who fortunately haven’t been there as often this year, presumably because they have less to moan about.

They’re the usual “stop messing about with it at the back” guys and then shout “don’t just hoof it” when we do have to go long.

I did have a little smile when one of them said we’re so boring, about 45 seconds before Sarmiento then scored.

Michael Beale sacked (n/t)

Not coming after you at all, just the statement you made as if it was a fact.

Opinions on forum boards isn’t exactly evidence. There were a few of people on here that thought MM was a ‘terrible’ manager.

I don’t particularly have an opinion on him either way but he can’t be that bad if he keeps getting decent jobs. Although he has clearly done a poor job at Sunderland.

Seeing as people who work in football, likely with far more knowledge and experience in the professional game than you, seem to rate him, I’d say it’s probably you that knows little about football.

I’d also be keen to know what personal encounters you have had with him to call him a ‘trash bag of a human being’..

Always makes me laugh when people claim that having a certain opinion means you know nothing about football.

Agreed and there are good examples of this being the case too, regarding club structures. Teams that are run well off the pitch tend to do well on it.

You look at Adkins taking Southampton to back to back promotions, is then sacked after a poor start but replaced by Pochettino who then takes them to another level.

And then there’s Brighton losing Potter. I’m sure their fans were pretty worried when he left yet seemed to upgrade with De Zerbi.

Pep Lijnders is looking to have another go at being number 1 at the end of the season.

Rosenior and Corberan both done very good jobs at Hull & WBA.

McKenna to Palace

I would be shocked if KM went to Palace. They’ve stagnated for a few years now and like many lower-mid prem teams, they’re one bad season away from being a West Brom or Stoke struggling in the championship.

I’d be more worried if Brighton lose De Zerbi.

How good do these look at Villa Park?
at 23:39 7 Feb 2024

European safe standing and UK safe standing tend to be two different ideas.

From all the installations I’ve seen in the UK, they’ve simply added rails on every row which makes it a bit safer to stand but without any change in capacity.

In Europe the actual seating system is replaced by (usually) metal seats built into the rails which can lock / unlock. So for European games the seats can be locked down to comply with UEFA regs but during domestic competition they lock up, creating an old style terrace which then allows a greater capacity.

Regardless of system though, for domestic games the UK will still only sell one ticket per seat whereas European clubs will increase ticket sales to something like 4 tickets for every 3 seats.

Why?
at 07:57 4 Feb 2024

I don’t think the first half was a lot worse than some other 45min performances we’ve had this season. 3 poor goals to concede made it seem a lot worse but we’re always open to conceding when we play in the risky way that we do.

A terrible pitch, a disciplined Preston shape and lack of outlet up front also contributed to it.

As we see in most games now, our brave approach in the first half often allows us to dominate the 2nd half as teams can’t keep up the intensity of their press for 90mins.
