Body Language
at 18:49 11 Feb 2024

While admiring Luke Woolfenden for being a fine example of a loyal, home-grown player, his recent low ratings are indicative that something is not right. Recognising that all players make mistakes, I'm more concerned about his body language and movement with rhe ball at his feet. Walking slowly forward and putting his foot on the ball is sending the wrong message to the rest of the team. Apart from the fact that it gives the opposition the opportunity to close down our other defensive players, it deflates the midfield and the front runners, frustrates the fans and takes away the opportunity for a quick attacking break.. Momentum and impetus are thus replaced by 'patience', safe sideways passing, and a dangerous press from the opposition forwards. When it breaks down on the halfway line we are then stretched by fast and dangerous counter attacks.
Wolfie must think and act more quickly, raise the pace of his game and change both his mindset and body language. He could then be a great player.

Pitch Improvements for Football Today
at 14:01 6 Feb 2022

Many of us have noticed how football has changed in recent years. To facilitate these changes, may I propose the following:
1. Fake injury First Aid posts all around the pitch staffed by drama coaches.
2. A Starbucks dugout to improve the quality of the frequent drinks breaks taken whenever play is stopped.
3. Arrows painted on the pitch in the defensive halves pointing towards the opponent's goal to discourage excessive sideways passing.

Any more suggestions.... ?

It has to be said

It has to be said that, whereas Mick Mills is the y'know king, Brenner keeps saying 'It has to be said'. Does it?

Building Partnerships

The best teams have them.

Dozzell & Bishop
Norwood & Parrott
Nsiala & Wilson

Possibly also...
Chambers & Bennetts
Kenlock & Judge/Edwards

Is this progress?

Sign James Wilson
at 15:22 20 Oct 2019

Toto's performance today only emphasises the need to sign James Wilson.

Despite being right footed, JW seems more comfortable on the left than any of the other CB's. Stanley's #7, Clark, ran us ragged on that flank. Wilson's no nonsense approach would have neutralised much of this threat and given Garbutt the support he needed, as well as releasing him for forays forward.

The statistics with Wilson in the team speak for themselves.

He will be an excellent permanent club acquisition and, after seeing the press and TV coverage this week, a fine community ambassador.
