| News Comment | McKenna: We Didn't Hit Our Usual Levels at 17:13:02
Norwich have played the same number of games as Town this season so I don't think we can use tiredness as an excuse. We were poor today & yes, we were in control until Norwich won a succession of fairly soft free kicks & corners. The real problem was that we didn't improve in the 2nd half as Norwich executed their game plan to hold their lead very well. |
| News Comment | Downes: Fans Don't Know the Full Story of Town Exit at 17:03:05
Town fans generally used to treat former players with respect, but I remember some of our fans booing Chris Kiwomya when we played at QPR years ago for some unfathomable reason & he rightly repaid them by scoring in a 3-1 QPR win. This trend seems to have continued. |
| News Comment | Eustace: I Think We've Been Hard Done By at 11:20:00
He's partially right. While the officials missed the pull on Broadhead & the marginal offside was the right call, some wouldn't have deemed Szmodics to have been interfering & the foul on Hladky was harsh, although these days I think most refs call that a foul. What this does show that there isn't that much between the teams in this league, but that's also shown by Leicester, Leeds & Saints all dropping points yesterday. |
| News Comment | Evans Aiming to Return to On-Fire Town Form at Pompey at 09:56:18
Evans will be 30 in the summer and he has a poor fitness record, having rarely played 30 or more games in a single season. While these injuries aren't his fault & when fit, he's a good player at League 1 level, most clubs should be wary of giving him a contract. |
| News Comment | Al-Hamadi Out of Iraq Squad at 11:15:48
Agreed Missing - Al-Hamadi seems like a player who is really keen to improve. He isn't the finished article yet, but at 22 he should have plenty of improvement in him. |
| News Comment | Evans Joins Pompey at 12:17:08
It's a short term deal, which makes sense for Pompey as while Evans is a good player at League 1 level, he has a poor fitness record, rarely playing more than 20 games in a season. |
| News Comment | Davis in Team of the Week at 13:53:35
Hmm..team of the week, for playing in a match in which he was fortunate to escape a second yellow card in the first half. |
| News Comment | Head of Recruitment Linked With Former Club at 12:11:15
Recruitment is one of the most important parts of any ambitious football club. I hope Williams doesn't want to return to OT, but if they start waving a big cheque around, it might be hard for us to compete. I also hope that when McKenna inevitably leaves, he doesn't take a raft of Town employees with him. |
| News Comment | Luongo: We've Got to Stick With It at 10:05:04
THe "half a yard off it" is what concerns me. At this level, where most of the opposition will come at us & press hard, we need to be right on it from the word go. Consistency is what achieves a good league position. |
| News Comment | Former Blue Norris Overwhelmed By Fans' Support at 17:57:51
Yes Woodford Tim - I don't think we've seen the whole detail of this story. There is usually more than one side to such stories. Norris wasn't a bad player, although worth nowhere near the £1.8m Jim persuaded Evans to stump up, but he did have a decent attitude on the pitch & always seemed to give 100%. That's probably why Keane made him captain. |
| News Comment | Fan Fall "Not a Police Matter" at 11:46:04
Ban John Ryan from Portman Road, as we did to John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood, after he spent most of Pompey's 3-0 defeat in 2003 clog-dancing on the roof of the executive boxes. |
| News Comment | Burgess Helps Australia Into Round of 16 at 15:17:38
The sooner Australia get knocked out & Burgess can return to Town, the better. He was born in Scotland & his dad is former Scottish international Campbell Forsyth. He represented Scotland at youth level & I wish he'd stuck with the Jocks. |
