...I was just wondering where the points were going to come from to avoid relegation? Since 2004/05, between 43 points (in 2005/06) and 53 points (in 2007/08) have been required to avoid the drop - that's between roughly 0.9 and 1.2 points per game. So far we've managed 27 points from 26 games, roughly 1.04 points per game - carried forward, that could mean relegation if 53 points are needed this season.
Then looking at the last 20 games this season, I've used the following "rules of thumb" - 1) No points home or away to teams currently in the top 6, 2) A home draw but no points away to teams currently placed 7th to 12th, 3) Home and away draws to teams currently placed 13th to 18th, 4) A home win and away draw to teams currently below us placed 20th to 24th. Only 2 wins predicted (home to Bristol City and Millwall) and 10 draws, making 16 points - therefore 43 points at the end of the season. Conclusion? - relegation unless something changes soon. |
