| Forum Thread | Shortlist to replace McKenna. Inside info. at 13:44 6 Apr 2023
I’m told the club are impressed with Palace turning to Hodgson and Chelsea going back to Lampard. They’ve prepared a shortlist in case of McKenna leaving. I’m told the shortlist is as follows: Roy Keane Paul Cook Paul Lambert Paul Hurst Marcus Evans |
| Forum Thread | Waghorn - Middlesbrough/Derby at 13:13 11 Feb 2022
Not sure this is how I recall it, but John Percy claims in article today that ‘Gibson’s anger surfaced in 2018 when Derby hijacked Boro’s deal to sign ipswich forward Martyn Waghorn for £2.5 million. Waghorn was on his way to sign until Derby moved in and paid ipswich £5 million leaving Gibson furious.’ As I recall, we turned down £5m from Derby and Waghorn was an unused sub in friendlies before we gave in and accepted £5m. No recollection of Boro at all. |
| Forum Thread | Phil - Question re Squad limits & Article on Sheff Wed player at 17:32 17 May 2021
Phil - in the article regarding link to the Sheff Wednesday player, you mention a squad limit of 22 outfield players. I thought the EFL had restricted it to just 20 including keepers? I know the PFA said they’re unhappy but has it changed to 22 outfield players? |

Please don’t put your life in the hands of a Shrewsbury man, He’ll throw it all away. But don’t look back in anger I heard you say (it’s hard not to after last season...) |

| Forum Thread | Definitely definite info of a definite kind at 16:02 7 Aug 2018
Just spoke to a made up mate of mine who works for a made up company in Derby and he said he has spoken to Waghorn and he told him he’s off to Accrington Stanley as their Chairman has really impressed him with his ambitions for a club with crowds of 2,000. Mind you, just as that happened, Blackpool came on the phone...definite info, can’t reveal my source as I’ve made him up... |
| Forum Thread | The Last Time McGoldrick Scored 2 in a game was .... at 12:56 9 Aug 2017
Had a check of my programmes here in the South Pole to see when Didzy last scored 2 in a game.....anyone know.... It was boxing day 2013, 3-0 at Doncaster. He scored 16 in league & cup by early feb that season, only for his season to be ended by injury later that month. Would have managed 20 easily I suspect. Had some class moments last season without scoring very many. Still our key player when fit. |
| Forum Thread | Apologies for Downtime? at 11:38 26 May 2017
When I saw the headline 'Apologies for Downtime' appear in the TWTD news headlines today, I assumed it was a message to the fans from Marcus Evans re his reign... Or if not, a belated sorry from Mick after he selected Skuse, Hyam & Douglas at home to Rotherham the season before last. |

| Forum Thread | Lawrence almost certainly out, McGoldrick very doubtful at 18:20 28 Mar 2017
See EADT webchat today. Stuart Watson says Lawrence almost certainly out for Saturday and McGoldrick very doubtful. No mention of whether Huws is fit. Our record of regularly missing vital players this season appears to be continuing. Another wake up call for anyone who doesn't yet think we're in more than a spot of relegation bother. |
| Forum Thread | Reality at 10:45 2 Feb 2017
We've every right to be angry with ME but lets stick to reality rather than make stuff up. 1. Club wasn't looking to sell Murphy, and didn't sell him to cover ME's losses. However, our failure to replace him has, and will, cost us dear. 2. We actually play slightly less long ball now Murphy has left as there's no one to hold the ball up, but the football has become far less effective and MM has always had a target man at his clubs. 3. ME's money has propped up the club and does put significant money in - it's a bit silly to say he doesn't. However, infuriatingly, it seems he's long since stopped trying to bid the going rate for players. 4. There's nothing to suggest ME is holding back the money for the new manager. He bid more in Jan than he's done in ages, but this was no good as he won't move with the times on valuations even though we rightly demand big fees when we sell. If the new manager gets loads to spend that'll be great, but that doesn't seem to be part of the plan. 5. Most of us are furious we didn't spend properly in January. Buying a Forest Green reserve is embarrassing. 6. Morale is low with fans and players. Relegation battle could well be on the cards. 7.We don't actually know that ME has lost interest or wants to sell. It's difficult to work out what he's thinking. However, what we do know is we have little realistic chance of promotion with the current approach, and we do have every chance of going down. 8. Once we reached the play offs in '15, ME should have realised it was the time to speculate and support MM. Instead, an over achieving team is in decline. 9. We need the top Category status for our Academy if we can't compete on transfers. 10. Relying on loans doesn't work. The occasional season long loan is fine but relying on them isn't. All you're doing is postponing the problem and not building a team. 11. MM has mostly worked wonders in the transfer market (Mcgoldrick, Murphy, Bart, Gerken, Berra, Skuse, Parr, Pitman and Mings for total of £10k) but we can't get away with not spending properly forever, and some of those bargain players are now in decline. |
