| News Comment | QPR 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:33:33
The Evans era is an abject failure. Sir Bobby and Sir Alf rolled in their graves when we sold Jack Marriott and Jordan Rhodes without them making a single senior start. It's not about the money, this fool hasn't a clue what makes ITFC great. |
| News Comment | Town Rubbish Claim Club Up For Sale at 17:19:58
"money is always going to make a difference" - but not yours, because you are abysmal at the strategy that underpins everything. You talk a great game now, but every major decision in the 11 years since you arrived has been wrong. |
| News Comment | Arsenal Linked With Youngster Crowe at 11:45:35
This story is everything that is wrong with the club. The vast majority of our greatest players: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipswich_Town_F.C._Hall_of_Fame were home grown. It's the same situation as with Ben Knight, who we lost to Man City. The motto of ITFC should be changed to: Assume Promise is Greatness. This is the attitude that built the club and made it a success. Sir Bobby Robson thrusted talented youngsters into the first team and thanks to this policy we succeeded beyond anyones' wildest dreams. Sheepshanks and Burley got this too, at least in their early spell. Evans, despite his words, fails to make this policy a reality. Jordan Rhodes and Jack Marriott left without making a single start. The 2005 Youth Cup winning team were dismantled upon Evans' arrival without much first-team time. The entire ethos of the club has to be reset. Must we boycott, restart the club as AFC Ipswich, wipe the debt and get rid of Evans? Anyone know a good lawyer? |
| News Comment | Blues Linked With Renewed Tilt Interest at 09:30:23
Defence is crying out for Tilt. Chambers, Nsiala, Knudsen & Donacien are all warrior-defenders. Little guilecomposurepassing-ability. Attackers are feeding off scraps. Massive mistake not getting Tilt in as Webster's replacement for the first game. Do the fricking deal already. |
| News Comment | Dyer: It Would Be Refreshing For Someone Younger to Be Given a Chance at 14:04:03
We could do a lot worse than KD as next manager. He'd be on my shortlist. Has a brain on him, heart is in the right place, knows what it takes at the top level & fans love him. ME's five point plan requires a good coach first and foremost. Last thing we need is yet another mgr reliant on wheeler-dealing, doesn't work at ITFC. Please can we fix the pitch properly this summer? |
| News Comment | Klug: I'm Very Fortunate to Have Big Responsibility at 13:45:54
Bryan Klug is exactly the manager we need: a great coach and steeped in the Ipswich way. No more personality-cult, no more futile attempts to wheeler-deal success. Hope he's given the job permanently. The only change Evans should ever have made is to retain star academy-graduates for longer. With Klug in charge we can return to this successful, tried-and-trusted ITFC strategy: build around the youth team, and fill in the gaps with the underappreciated from lower leagues. ITFC should not be in the business of out wheeler-dealing our competition, has never, will never work. This has been shown ever since Evans arrived in 2007. To those who say our problem is Evans not giving enough to the manager to spend in the transfer market, when he bank-rolls the club to the tune of > £7m per year: you aren't supporting, and don't understand Ipswich Town FC. |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Klug Caretaker-Manager at 20:10:05
Good luck Bryan, I hope you get the job permanently. We need a good coach first, manager second. Someone steeped in "The Ipswich Way" is a bonus. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Ex-Blues Striker Marriott Was Disgraceful Pre-Season Prior to Town Exit at 13:23:57
Whether Marriott was overweight or not is irrelevant. By virtue of his scoring record at Ipswich and his various loans, he should not have been sold. The key point here is that ITFC have only ever had one competitive advantage, and one alone: our academy. Selling the likes of Rhodes and Marriott for pittance, and giving ageing loanee Gleeson pitch time while ostracising Downes: these actions are toxic to the well-being of the club. After the high-spending Keane and Jewell debacles, Evans started making the right noises (long-term plans, using the academy more). Then he sanctioned selling high-scoring Marriott. It's expected from MM, since youngsters, especially short ones, tend not to be "proper blokes". But I still don't think Evans "gets" ITFC. |
| News Comment | McCarthy Out to Stop Former Club Millwall From Setting New Away Record at 09:17:36
"It's probably time to just have a look at them, to be quite honest," he added. “We're not going up and we're not going down. It might be time." Christ it took you a long time to realise that. ITFC is its own feeder club. People need to wake up to this fact. Downes should never have been loaned in this situation. We will never buy success. Ever. |
| News Comment | Dozzell on Track for Pre-Season Return at 13:02:23
If he's anything like Downes, he'll end up playing lower league football while we'll get a dead-end journeyman on loan in his place. Welcome to strategic Ipswich in 2018. Think I can hear Sir Bobby Robson turning in his grave. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: We've Got to Stick Together Or It'll Really Go Pear-Shaped at 13:28:46
"That's where they should expect to be. It's that type of club." It's all well and good George Burley spouting off about our "rightful place" (see itfcserbia's comment), but it was him that started our demise from which we have never recovered. Burley jettisoned Jamie Scowcroft and spunked over £6m on the useless Finidi George and Marcus Bent. Plus, he failed to convince Richard Wright not to ruin his career by joining Arsenal, then blew £5m on a rubbish keeper: Sereni. From the moment he won Manager of the Year, Burley barely made a correct decision at Ipswich. Good coach, very limited manager. |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Youngsters Could Be Involved in Final Months at 23:59:35
I'd like to us rebuild our club around the youth team. It's still the club's best asset. That's how we achieved success before. If it means a relegation, so be it. Also must sort the pitch out. Can't pass on a boggy pitch. Investing in a pitch-wide lighting system would be money well spent. It's never been the same since the new stands were built. Fortress Portman Road like the good old days. |
