*sigh* just shows how hard it is to find a positive under Evans lol It's quite telling that our best buys under Evans have been purchases from lower leagues / for an actual fee ...the very transfers we don't do much of. [Post edited 3 Feb 2021 17:38]

Maybe so but whoever comes in will need to buy half a squad on the Evans budget in the matter of weeks. It'll just be one desperate situation to another. |

Only route? Bollox to that. Either play our own and develop a sustainable future or take a financial hit and just don't reward the overpaid jobbers in the squad with numbers and get in some young and motivated players permanently. Loans are just a short term waste of money that will leave us with academy players still here collecting a pension yet to get a chance and near zero turnover from transfers which will further erode our competitiveness financially. It's this loaning half a team each year under Mick that has cost us so much already. What's the plan for next season? Half the squad out of contract, overpaid and under-performing so wouldn't want em to stay, no youth with experience because of this shortsightedness, and no money to fill the gaps in the squad. We'll have to sell the likes of Woolfy and Downes just to fill a squad. It'll be Hurst 2.0. |

He'll be gone by summer, if Evans was backing him past that we wouldn't be wasting money on just loans. I worry we will be in the same situation as the Hurst one though. A new manager in after a squad exodus, having to self fund the filling of squad spaces by selling any assets off on the cheap, overpaying for players coming in, all because he's expecting too much to be done in the matter of weeks. |

It's like the owner doesn't think our players are good enough, and also doesn't trust the manager not to waste money on permanent signings either |

So many players look good at the pretty much non-contact u23 levels then cant handle the physicality of proper football. Don't have to look too far for evidence of that around here |

| Forum Reply | Does anyone think that a new manager alone will not fix this club? at 13:14 30 Jan 2021
I have a feeling anything a new manager achieves will be very temporary. I'd be surprised if it doesn't provide a false dawn or two though. Never know, if a manager gets away from this annoying 433 it would protect our fullbacks and provide a striker with some support so could well spark the whole club back to life... Including the owner. |

We have kids of our own. I would just ditch Huws or Skuse from the squad to remove them from the salary cap and get in someone with some experience, like Doncaster have just done with Bogle [Post edited 29 Jan 2021 15:57]
