Exactly the kind of "waspish" player I was saying about after the saints game, and now we go for two the same day! |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Game Was a Damp Squib at 10:05:06
While I can accept we have been up against two very good teams in the last few days, something is clear, we lack pace and speed of thought in and around the opposition penalty box. We were second to everything in both games, and how many problems were created last evening by Shane long just putting pressure on our back 3/4 at pace, Jonny Ruseell did the same to Mingsy on saturday, we have nothing similar. Our change option is another big lump, who frankly is is worse than Sammon, would love to see a waspish sort of palyer in and around Didz and Murph, Jonnie is the ideal, but there must others out there, someone with the right attitude to chase down those percentage balls, or flick on's that the other two have the pace to do. |

While I'm delighted to see JW back, it makes the signing of Ambrose and less so Collison baffling, why waste the wages on Ambrose? Surely with Skuse, Hyam, Bishop, Bru, probably Collison and now JW, all in front in the pecking order, it seems pointless |
| News Comment | Collison Signs Deal at 14:50:22
Hope this doesn't mean Bishop or Hyam taking a backstep as i believe these two are the longer term option for ITFC |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Full-Backs Have Blossomed at 11:58:09
The only thing missing from the team on Monday was that one real quality player, either with rapier pace, or a really creative player (something Teddy Bishop with undoubtedly be). Still say that Luke Hyam is a better bet for the holding role than Skuse, which would allow Bishop + another creative player to come in. Also Dids was poor on monday, hope it is just a stepping stone in his recovery from last season |
| News Comment | Marriott Rejoining Woking at 11:53:07
I'm really surprised Colchester haven't taken a punt on him. Its widely reported that they are looking for a loan striker, and would think spending the season there, close to home, with some familiar faces might help him and their club |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Lawrence Can Move On at 11:36:34
Here's what I'm not understanding. MM seems to be trying to encourage Luke Hyam to get further forward, and to be more offensive minded. But at the same time is releasing players who can perform this function without changing their game. Why not allow LH to function as he has done for the last few years, doing the dirty work in front of the back four (a bit like Gareth Barry for everton) allowing the player makers, of which we are lacking, to attack and create opportunities. Dispense with Skuse, Tabb, and Murphy, bring in Bishop, Henshall, and Marriot and let them have some time to bed in and make the roles their own. |
| News Comment | Linked Duo Set to Leave Yeovil at 14:43:45
Suspect it is an either/or for these Yeovil boys, gotta say prefer the idea of Ayling, but is Chambo really gonna hang around if he is not first choice? Agree with Barnett being a no no, he is poor, Assambalonga however........ |
| News Comment | Hunt: Sylvan's a Goal Machine! at 09:12:39
Anyone else remeber the last time we had four top strikers all of whom could come in and offer something, and thats without young Marriot, who I'm sure will be Towns future, but learning from these players all with different attributes and something they can teach him, bodes very well! |
| News Comment | Colchester 0-3 Town at 11:31:07
SouperJim, you can only judge on what you see, I'm not saying he is a disgrace to the shirt or anything like that, just that last night he was our worst player. But as highlighted by Manningtree, he was tightly marked, my worry would be that he lacked the intelligence to discover space, in the same way McGoldrick and Taylor did. Even my OH sitting watching with me said "why don't he move!". |
| News Comment | Colchester 0-3 Town at 08:53:12
brian_a_mul... I thought Nouble was our worst player last night, Mcgoldricks movement made FN look pedestrian, though when they swapped and he managed to get himself on Eastman, it looked like he had more time and space, but still did little. When Taylor came on he and Murphy looked better as a pair, so I'm thinking one of these two will be the better partner for DM, and it'll probably be Taylor once fully fit. |
| News Comment | Colchester 0-3 Town at 22:24:38
We lacked a little pace in wide areas, but hopefully Anderson will sort that out, and thought Nouble was poor, but other than that very pleased with what I saw. Also impressed by the young men coming on second half, yes it was game over, but they moved the ball around well |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Berra Worth Every Penny at Wolves at 09:23:22
Still say we are a striker short, but would still be happy if we started the season with what we have. All of MM's business has been spot, done quickly and quietly and with real intent. Not one of the players has he bought in have I sat back and asked "why's he signed him", they've all made sense, which is a first for a good few summers! |
| News Comment | McCarthy: Far From Best Performance at 21:11:08
If Barnsley are indeed serious about Chops, it makes perfect sense for MM to keep quiet about it and allow things to happen without the complications of agents and other clubs making things more complex. |
| News Comment | Berra Signs for Town at 18:37:51
Still think we are a strike but thats it, come on 13/14! |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Murphy Deal at 15:48:05
Cookra shush, you didn't fare well first time, and it would seem that your opinion is not shared by the vast majority, so just quietly withdraw and save further negatives. I would say another vital piece of the Puzzle, not a corner piece but definitely an edge at least! |
