Just picked up the Sunday paper the age and an article about the mighty town. Couldn't find a link... Little billy Bartlett has the world at his feet after signing for an English championship football club. The 10 year old Elwood prodigy hopes he will one day embark on a career as a professional footballer after clinching a deal with Ipswich town. Billy's style of play has been likened to Real Madrid star Gareth bale and the attacking midfielder can't wait to test his skills against youth players from famous clubs such as Chelsea tottenham and west ham. Bully's whole family is now getting ready to move from Brighton, Melbourne to England early next month. Mum and dad kate and Sam who are from the uk originally will make the move along with his brother Thomas and sister Annie. For the past 6 years billy who was born in Spain has honed his soccer skills at Australia's leading soccer training program, football star academy. "I'm really excited about moving to the uk to play for a professional football club" billy said "the quality of coaching is amazing and I can't wait to play against some very good footballers." "If I keep playing well I might be offered an apprenticeship at Ipswich and might one day become a professional football player which has always been my dream"
Sorry if I missed anything being in Australia it's not as easy to keep upto date with everything, but was wondering what ever happened to Byron Lawrence an do we ever expect to see him around the first team?
Finding the comments under the judge to blackburn story hillarious, get a grip lads. McCarthys steering us in the right direction but we are the longest serving championship club what makes you think we are the most attractive club in the championship for players? Judge was released from Blackburn where he was a youth player, has friends at the club, a point to prove, doesnt have to move very far if at all, and with the turmoil aside there playing squad is hardly inferior to ours. Some of our fans are a bunch of babies, some players sign for ipswich some dont get over it.
And more to the point, given Notts County havent been on TV at all over the last 3 seasons i find it hard to believe any of you have ever seen him play anyway, so all this 'hes quality hes class' is just an estimated guess, football manager isnt always 100% correct guys.
Just a thought, cant deny that Ferguson has been remarkable and its undoubted his achievements are unlikely to ever be matched. But just a thought, looking at the financial state of the lower leagues, I cant help think Uniteds success has played some part in others decline. If Manchester Uniteds history over the last 20 years, was swapped with say Crewe, would they have the fan base? Would your mates living in the south of england be 'supporting' a league 2 club? Most of their fans have no affiliation to the club at all other than 'they are the best team' This has drove certain people to neglect their local teams, leaving them short financially.
I hear Persiba Bantul in the Indonesian premiership need a striker, 35,000 stadium and a country where gambling is illegal. No one speaks his language so they wouldnt have to put up with his crap - sounds like a win for all involved
I think the club should cut its losses, we could either have him sitting around the place getting in the heads of other players, setting no example to the younger lads collecting his 18 grand a week, creating ill atmosphere, or we could release him pay up his contract n get rid. Lets face it give the man a large amount of cash n he will no doubt blow it on a 3 legged donkey at ascot, then he will be in some factory somewhere earning his cash like everyone else. Either way the club will pay his wage so why not do it as one lump sum instead of spreading it over a year.
