Reality is the world and the game of football has moved on since our last successes now decades ago... Ipswich is a medium / large size town in the UK. Not a city, No real economy of its own, no real investment in the town, no tourist interest, etc etc. We are about where we should be based on these external factors.
I'm so sick of the merry go round. I really cant stomach yet another clear out this summer. It's not productive and it's not what winners do. We are not allowing players time to develop make mistakes etc.
1. We were not "relegated yesterday" 2. No individual player is to blame for our current position 3. No game is a must win game 4. No one invests in anything with the intention of running it into the ground Marcus is not the enemy and cares enormously about ITFC - taking a single minded view in hindsight about his previous decisions is not helpful 5. Reflecting on McCarthy era with rose tinted glasses is unhealthy - we were all very fed up and bored. This season has provided more entertainment already.
The players heads are clearly down and they are playing scared because they know they will be dropped, moved position or generally lambasted if they fault which of course they will as mostly young players making a big step up.
Football is complex and errors are inevitable, I think he is struggling because he has failed to create a growth culture, The pressure has got to him and he has placed all emphasis on winning to the extent of abandoning his identity and all of the good things Marcus saw in him when conducting his research.
