Deserved. Since his arrival back here he has been immense for us! Hirst, when he comes back, will learn a lot from him. |

I could see him going to Newcastle in the summer which would be sad - he's a very good player - and for over £20m would not be the worst decision for us if he wanted to leave. On the other hand, McKenna would find trying to manage those prima donna Premiership players a relative nightmare. I'm sure he's too sensible to leave us for a few years yet. Besides, we supply the best England Managers. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 4-3 Rotherham United - Match Report at 12:33:24
Not often do I come away from us winning 4-3 at home without feeling elated! That was all too close for comfort with real concerns about our shaky defence. The way we play there will be matches like this. However, I still believe that Walton should have a run in goal and Edmundson should take over from Woolfenden. How much more fun than it was in the McCarthy era. |

Well done everyone a tough enough game. Burgess has strengthened the defence and there was much encouragement in the way the new signings are settling in. Now for a good long run! |
| News Comment | McKenna: There's Not One Fixture We Look at as a Comfortable Three Points at 12:31:59
I I like Woolfie, but agree with Cloddyseedbed - Woolfie needs to be rested. He's become overconfident and vulnerable and needs to work on his speed. That first goal conceded against WBA......oh dear! Woolfie can come back stronger and sharper. In the meantime we do have alternatives. |
| News Comment | McKenna: Hirst Set For Surgery and Out For Most of the Season at 11:16:09
Many coming to realise at last that George Hirst is our most under rated player (marked at an average of only 6.58). He's strong and a handful for any defender trying to mark him, and greats space for our several goal scorers . I wish you a speedy recovery George, we shall miss you. |
| News Comment | Hirst: A Lesson Learned at 12:22:42
A good, honest summing up from Hirst. Leave it to McKenna to sort out, rather than picking on individual players. We often learn more from defeats than easy wins. |
| News Comment | Hirst: Comebacks Show Our Character at 10:44:05
George Hirst brings so much to our attack. He's a handful for defenders so it's no surprise we have had 17 different players scoring goals. Work on that left foot George - you are destined to be one of our Greats! |
| News Comment | Hirst: I’m Learning My Role is Bigger Than Just Goals at 15:19:52
I'm a fan of George Hirst. He will score many more goals for us. Particularly when his left foot get stronger. In the meantime, watch how he opens up the opposition defences for others to score. His header which set up Broad head to score against Preston was pure class. The only game we've lost this season (v Leeds) he wasn't playing/. |
