Fabulous footballer, but he had something else too. Just connected with the fans. His gestures, expressions, body language, enthusiasm just made you love him. You loved him like a mate. He seemed to have a closeness to the crowd that fired them up and his play could thrill and excite you. If there is something exceptionally special about being a town fan (and there is!) Yes. Well said Suffolkboy. A hardworking, loyal, and dedicated player. We will do well to keep him long-term. I think his loyalty to MM has turned a minority against him, but in truth he is one of our best assets and deserves our support. |

Thanks for that Clivebleedingthomas. I was only six at the time, wasn't aware of the game, but, like every kid in the county, was soon aware of how our town had stunned the world of football. I think everyone in Suffolk felt incredibly proud, and Ipswich Town had truly written themselves into football history for ever. Those were the days! |
