Lambe Hoping for International Release
Wed 07th Oct 2009 16:41

Bermudian international midfielder Reggie Lambe says he hopes Town will release him for a series of youth friendlies with Trinidad and Tobago and perhaps Jamaica over Christmas. Lambe, 18, made his first and so far only senior appearance for the Blues in the Carling Cup tie at Shrewsbury earlier in the season.

Bermuda plan to play Trinidad and Tobago’s U20s and are also negotiating matches against Jamaica’s U20 side over the festive period. The Bermudians will field either an U20 or U23 team in the games.

Lambe, who has previously won nine caps at full international level, scoring four goals, says he would very much like to be involved: "I would always play for my country before I play for my club and so it would be an easy decision to come back.

"I wasn't planning on coming back but I would come back to play in those games if it's possible.

"I don't think we have that many games over the Christmas holiday. We probably have one and so I will try to be available for those games."

Lambe joined the Town academy from Bermuda side the Dandy Town Hornets in 2007, after spending several school holidays on trial at Playford Road, having been recommended to the club by a friend of former director Holly Bellingham.

Always good to see our players called up for their country, something to be proud of for both player and club. He should be allowed to do so :)

Why would the club not want Reggie to play for his country? This is a no brainer.

Why would Lambe want to play a load of 'youth' games? He is a full international.
