Taricco Joins Brighton Tue 10th Nov 2009 13:43
Town legend Mauricio Taricco has been named the assistant manager of Brighton and Hove Albion, working under his former Spurs team-mate Gus Poyet.
Taricco, who played for the Blues between 1994 and 1999, has been living in Sardinia since ending his playing career with a very brief spell at West Ham in 2004. Brighton chairman Tony Bloom welcomed Taricco and Poyet to the Withdean Stadium: "Gus is one of the best up and coming young coaches in this country and we are delighted to give him his first opportunity in management. "His credentials are exceptional and all of the reports we have had on his coaching ability are outstanding. "I am certain he will be a big success with the Albion, and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both Gus and Mauricio to the club."

Good luck to Mauicio and also of course Nicky Forster (under-rated at Town), particularly when Brighton play the scum. | 207 forum posts 27 news comments 7 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls

Never thought I'd see Treacle coaching but heres hoping he is a huge success and can take up the reigns at PR when Keano leaves to manage Man U after guiding us to the Premier League and beyond(fingers and everything else well and truly crossed!). As a class of the 70/80s member Mauricio is probably my favourite player outside that era and I wish him all the luck in the world. | 138 forum posts 7 news comments 0 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls

Great to see Treacle back in the English game, I hope it all goes well for him. One of football's most genuine characters. Remember how he volunteered to tear up his contract with West Ham after picking up a serious injury. | 1 forum posts 31 news comments 4 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls

I was unaware that Poyet was at Brighton as manager. A very interesting pairing. One I shall watch with interest. I wish Taricco all the best. He became a great player for Town and I particualrly liked the way he reacted after Burley treated him so badly soon after he arrived. He was told to train with the youth team. Most would have walked away but he knuckled down and became one of the best, if not the best, defender in the division. A lesson that could be learnt by one or two of our own players right now! | 0 forum posts 139 news comments 2 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls
