Delaney Hits Back at Keane
Sun 22nd Nov 2009 20:35

FAI chief executive John Delaney has hit back at Roy Keane, calling on the Town boss to “move on” from the 2002 World Cup controversy. On Friday Keane slammed Delaney in the wake of Ireland’s controversial World Cup defeat to France.

Delaney said: "It's just a side-show. We've all moved on from Saipan - Niall Quinn, Mick McCarthy, the FAI and all the players - but it seems to me that he hasn't. It's time for him now, in my opinion, to learn from the past - not live with it.

"I really thought the images shown around the world on Friday were very sad - it's sad to see a great former player reflected in the manner as he did. It's time to forget about Saipan and move on - because everyone else has."

KEANE is making headlines slagging people off over things that are not his concern ,instead of making headlines doing what he said he could do at ITFC, he just underlined he is a ''mouth'' , and a disaster in the making at our club.

I'm not Irish. I'm a town fan. I couldn't give a sh*t about the FAI or Delaney. The same applies to Keane and his obsession with what went on in 2002. All I care about is our current relegation plight. Shut up and start doing a decent job at OUR football club who is paying you a LOT of money Roy. Leave the past in the past.

If keane is asked a question he will give an answer. Every journalist would want his views on Ireland and he gave them, I don't see a problem! And to be fair to him he made some very good points the other day.

RK quite rightly expects self discipline and, no doubt, intelligent awareness from his players at ITFC - but it's spectacular in its absence from himself. He should simply have said 'no comment' when asked by the journos. Instead he makes a total fool of himself by publicly lecturing Trappatoni on football management!! (Remind everybody of a previous similar scenario?). He probably only keeps going as a manager in the forlorn hope that he'll one day be able to stick 2 fingers up at Mick Mc and send the message that he's better at the job.

Keane thinks he is probably bigger than any player and club. but Ipswich Town will live a lot longer than him and us.trouble is we are stuck with him and cannot afford to pay him off. time will tell, but i think we are on a looser here.. we need an Ex player back to bring back the passion that we have dearly lost..were not going anywhere this season.

It pains me that we live in a world where petty minded, bitter twisted individuals find it necessary to knock someone, when all he has done is voice an opinion.
Everyone is allowed an opinion, and if we live in a world where we are brow beaten into "no comment" well then its a pretty crap place we live in.
All those people who feel it necessary to jump on the bandwagon, think,if you were not allowed to voice an opinion, then you bitter little outburst would not be allowed on here!
Forgive me, i thought this was a free country.
As for a disgrace to our club, well i think its you fair weather supporters who are the disgrace, things are not going well (understatement), its the way of things at the moment, but as in life there is not always someone to blame for this.
And thats my opinion that i have voiced, lets see if i am allowed this opinion, or will i be lambasted for speaking my mind

a change of subject but matt holland is doing his coaching badges, how much would i like to see him back at portman road not as a replacement for keane but to be on the coaching staff along with a certain left back currently assistant at brighton. maybe a combination for the future 5 years or so

KEANO! KEANO!

The man's hilarious, and he is dragging our club, one with surely the most provincial and tame fanbase, into the real world. Harking on like we're owed something by a football world that doesn't give two hoots about clubs with no edges who claim to be family clubs. Actually, all we look like is a boring club, with boring, quiet fans who prefer managers who coo about everything.

I'm surprised all you fans who don't like Keano are unhappy with our current position. I'm sure you think we should be friendly to all and sundry, to protect our [pathetic] family club image - surprised you don't love it that we're giving the points away that we do!

Hang on in there Keano, the naysayers can have their pussycat manager after you've taken us to the Prem.

Keane was exactly the right man for us, and still is.

'Is he beginning to make our once great family club a laughing stock?'
All that is needed has been said. ^^
Why can't our manager stay out of the headlines? Im starting to feel embaressed to have this guy as manager of Ipswich, I look back at videos of him as a player and I think why did we get him in? He just attracts negative attention. I havnt even mentioned the fact that he's got us to 23rd in the league with the quality squad that we have we should be in and around the play offs! He's sold our only natural goalscorer and brought in a HALF decent replacement for a stupid price in Priskin. I still think Priskin might turn into a good player, but thats really down to the manager and he's been given long enought to do this with the whole squad really...and he's failed. So he's got to go for me. Get in a new manager before the new year so he can attract some players in January with the money we have.
KEANE OUT!

Some of the RK apologists on here seem to be blissfully unaware of just how much ridicule his comments attracted from all the neutrals on R5live the day the story first broke - without exception, all the neutrals were hooting with derision, remarking that RK's comments, coming from a manager whose team had won 1 in 17 games and are virtually rock bottom of the Ch'ship, were ludicrous.

As to the comments by PutYaBoots on re the 'boring quiet' ITFC fan base, I'm afraid they're more out of date than the fans he's referring to - has he heard the booing at PR? Has he read the forum posts recently?
