Covers on at Blackpool
Fri 01st Jan 2010 09:51

Blackpool's Bloomfield Road pitch was finally covered overnight, despite chairman Karl Oyston saying that he had no plans to purchase any earlier in the week. The Tangerines' last two games have been postponed due to the surface being frozen and Town's FA Cup tie on Saturday has also been in significant doubt.

Temperatures dipped below zero last night but covers, which can be seen on Bloomfield Road's webcam, were put in place early in the evening.

Lows of minus three and snow are expected overnight and the match could still be in jeopardy.

considering the ground has been frozen for a week or two up there now , I fail to see how putting a plastic cover over already frozen ground is going to "save the game". I think it's the Blackpool chief attempting to placate the locals who have been up in arms about their teams lack of games due to shoddy board interventions.
The game will be off !

Me thinks he was considering the boll**king the FA would give him, plus the chaos he would cause for the Blackpool playing schedule!

Let's hope they take them off before kick-off. I predict a 2-1 Ipswich win (goals by Colbeck and Garvan) with Blackpool having two men sent off.
